When Pharmacies Run Out

When Pharmacies Run Out

I was reading an article the other day that got me thinking. It was from Reuters: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-rationing-drug-shortages/hospital-pharmacists-face-dozens-of-drug-shortages-yearly-idUSKCN1R827Z

The article deals with a situation that is already facing hospitals and doctors today. They are facing significant shortages of dozens of drugs regularly. "Researchers surveyed 719 pharmacists at large and small hospitals across the country in 2018. Every one of them reported experiencing at least one drug shortage in the past year, and 69 percent had dealt with at least 50 shortages in that time….Many drugs involved in hospital shortages are injected or infused medicines for pain relief, treating common health problems like cancer and heart conditions, and fighting infections."

I want to be clear; I am not against medications when properly prescribed and used; they certainly have their place. What I want to address is our ability to use different modalities for treating some of the things for which pharmaceuticals are routinely used. Over the past months in many of my articles, I have presented scientific studies that show how effective alternatives can be in addressing health issues.

For example, many people are being given prescriptions for sleep medication. I receive almost daily emails and comments about how the music of www.calmingharp.com  has helped people be able to get full night's sleep. The calming effects of the music are as useful or even more effective than the medications that are being prescribed.

I just got a note from a woman who operates a pet grooming salon in which she plays my harp music throughout the day, every day. She told me that she is getting feedback from her customers that their pets are so calm after they pick them up. Even animals respond to the calming effects of the harp.

I have also written about how many of the essential oils can be used in place of medication. I put Lavender oil on any fresh cut to keep it from getting infected. Frankincense has been used for ages to prevent sickness and infections. Interesting that one of the gifts to the Baby Jesus was Frankincense which was considered a gift for a king to keep them healthy.

Other naturally occurring substances have been proven over the years. We have used pure activated charcoal (the kind you scrape off a burned tree limb) to place over a wound to either prevent infection or draw it out. One of our dogs was bitten by a rattle snake and her foot was puffing up and red with infection. We placed a charcoal bandage around the wound and changed it every day. By 3 days, her foot was almost normal.

When it comes to pain control, there are several of the essential oils that are very helpful in this area. I encourage you to take one of the classes that Dr. Z offers to learn how to use essential oils effectively.

There are also naturally occurring plants that can be used. For instance, willow tree inner bark can be chewed to extract the naturally occurring aspirin for pain control. It is what was used to synthesize the aspirin that we commonly buy over the counter at the drug store. I would encourage you to do some study on plant medicines. There are many books available, and many community colleges give courses in identifying plants. The first nation people usually have specialists in their communities that are generally very willing to share their knowledge.

There are also many types of hydrotherapy, using hot and cold-water treatments that are quite effective in addressing many health issues. In the early 1900s, there were many "sanitariums" that were operating that offered these treatments with much success. Today, there are still some practitioners that provide these treatments and are willing to train. There are still some older books circulating that offer these techniques. One I know of is titled, "Back to Eden" by Kloss. Like many things, you treat it like a buffet. You pick what makes sense and leave the rest on the table.

As a kid, when I got a chest cold, my mom would get out the heating pad and start treatment on me. First, I would get the pad as hot as I could stand, and then she would bring a cold cloth to rub on me. That would be repeated 4 or 5 times, and then she would rub me down with Vicks Vapor Rub and bundle me into bed. By morning, I would be all cleared up and ready for school. Now, people go to the emergency room and get an antibiotic prescription — what a difference.

I am working with a company now that makes a PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Frequency) devise that is designed to increase capillary blood flow. If you think about it, if you can get more blood flow to the cells of your body, there are a whole host of medical issues that would be instantly improved if not even stopped with more oxygen and energy to the cells and more CO2 and toxins away from the cells. Some of the case studies are amazing.

If you would like more information, please contact me at steve@calmingharp.com  and I can send you some amazing information. This modality improves conditions that pharmaceuticals can't even touch because if the blood is not getting to the problem, then no matter what medication you are using, or how good it is, it will not be getting to the problem.

I believe that this medication shortage that has been shown in the above study is only going to get worse. Wouldn't it be better for us if we could begin to learn now about these wonderful alternatives to medications? Wouldn't it be better for us if we would not even need any of these medications because we have found more natural ways to health and wellness? When the newspapers and televisions are giving newsflashes about the next medicine shortage, wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to worry about it? And if we are not all bound up with worry and fear, maybe even that Shalom will be a source of better health and wellness!
