I would like for us to take a little break from all the studies and knowledge that we have been considering and take a more practical hands on – or shall we say ears on - approach to the subject of the effects of calming music on our minds, bodies and spirits. It’s one thing to read and consider the various scientific studies that I have been presenting over the past months, but I would like to offer an experiment of sorts – a time of listening to some of this calming music and feeling/sensing what effects it has on your own body and physiology.
I just finished recording and publishing a new CD titled ”Living Water” that is recorded in the 528 Hz frequency. My wife tells me that it is my best CD yet! What I would like to do is to give you 4 of the tracks on it as a link that you can click on and listen to. That should give you about 20-25 minutes of calming listening to see how it effects your body, mind and spirit. Usually, my experience tells me that within 15 minutes, you should be able to detect some kind of effect.
What I would like is for you to write me and tell me in an email what happened with you. I want to assure you that there will be different kinds of effects. We are all different and have lived through different cultures, families and experiences so we approach these observations from very different places and with different paradigms. Some of our bodies function differently than others so don’t go into this with expectations. Just play the music and pay attention to what is happening in your body, mind and spirit.
I keep using the term – body, mind and spirit – because as a Registered Nurse, we were trained to pay attention to all of these sectors of our being. They all have a part to play and there is a lot of interaction between each one of them. Our health or lack thereof in one area will certainly affect the other areas. Our attention to the health of all three of these sectors of our life will ensure great benefit and our ability to thrive will be dependent on all of these areas to be functioning at top condition.
Some of the things to pay attention to include; does your heart rate change – faster or slower? Is your level of anxiety changed – more or less? Are you more excited or more rested? If you have trouble sleeping - did you fall asleep easier? Was your breathing more relaxed? Did you notice increase or decrease in muscle tension? Was it easier to just relax – maybe even meditate? If you are experiencing chronic pain – was there a change in the level of pain you are experiencing? Did you find your relationships with others more relaxed – less stressful? Was there any effect on your levels of worrying? Maybe it added a new experience as background to a meal.
These are just a few suggestions – there certainly are many other potential observations. I would love to hear from you with your experiences.
I know this is not a scientific study, but I think it will be interesting to “taste and see” what this music can do for our body, mind and spirits. Thank you for your participation and interest in how this calming music can affect our lives.
This new Harp CD is melodic combinations of chord progressions from Psalms 90 through 100 – often referred to as the Psalms of Moses. I have added soft background music to the harp with keyboard accompaniment that, in my opinion, does not detract from the main focus of the harp. I have discovered a link between the Hebrew letters contained in the text of the Psalm and musical notes. Once the notes of the letters of each Hebrew word are combined, they give us a musical triad or chord. From word to word, there is a chord progression uncovered that leads to the music that I have brought to each of these compositions. There is an actual connection between the music you hear and the words of the Psalm that you read.
I believe that what you will hear on this recording will be a blessing to you. It is my hope and prayer that it become another treasured addition in your musical library providing you with hours of peaceful rest and gentle restoration.
